Let’s Play: Death and Taxes – Part 1 | Choices, Consequences, Paperwork

Part 1: “This is part one of a three-part playthrough.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be responsible for the fate of the world – one decision at a time?

Death and Taxes, an indie game from Placeholder Gameworks, puts you behind a very unassuming desk as a newly appointed Grim Reaper. Your job isn’t dramatic in the traditional sense. There are no scythes or cloaks here. Just paperwork, moral dilemmas, and the quiet weight of consequence.

This single-player simulation for PC asks you to decide who lives and who dies, all while keeping an unseen system in balance. Every choice ripples outward. Every decision costs something.

This is my first playthrough. No optimisation. No foreknowledge. Just curiosity, ethics, and a surprising amount of emotional bookkeeping.

  1. […] If you missed the beginning, Part 1 is here.Welcome to Session 2 of Placeholder Gameworks’ Death and Taxes! In this session, I will be put to the test as I make more ethical decisions that will affect the game’s storyline and outcome. The purchasing and using items might be critical whilst assessing the choices carefully – am I making the right decisions? The game’s great humour and characters have really made this a super fun, if somewhat nerve-wracking experience so far.So sit back, relax, and enjoy watching me play through Death and Taxes from Placeholder Gameworks. Who knows – maybe I won’t destroy the world, lol! […]
